Abbey Fields Swimming Pool Steel Work and impact on Junior Playground – Starting Soon!
The enclosed junior playground has recently been open during the week with access via the rubber mat footpath from the Bridge St entrance down to the new gate by the corner of the now-closed tennis courts. At weekends, the entrance at the ‘cross over’ – next to the cartoon characters – is open.

Warwick District Council has now sent an update (see below) and here’s what you need to know:
Kier, the swimming pool contractor has confirmed that starting, Monday, February 24th 2025 and with an expected duration of 8 weeks work on site for the delivery and erection of the steel work will begin. This means that:
- The junior playground (next to the Pavilion) will be closed in the week but open on weekends via the crossover.
- Footpath by the public toilets will remain open throughout.
- Access to the bridge & duck feeding platform will not be affected.
The schedule avoids February half-term but will impact the first week of the Easter holidays. If possible, Kier will reopen the playground earlier. There is a small chance of a 9th week closure should there be high winds that affect the use of the cranes, but this risk is minimal.
Thanks for your patience!
