On Saturday 23 July. Friends of Abbey Fields held the judging of the finalist images entered for its 2023 Calendar. The final 41 images were judged by the Mayor of Kenilworth, Samantha Cooke. Before judging the images, she gave a short speech to the photographers, calendar sponsors and members of FOAF who attended the event, which took place at the Virgins and Castle on High Street. In her speech, she spoke about the importance of Abbey Fields to the Kenilworth Community and emphasised that it is one of Kenilworth’s jewels. After completing her task, she identified the winning image, which forms the front cover of the 2023 calendar.
The winning photographer, Jonathan Corbett, is congratulated by Samantha Cooke.
Friends of Abbey Fields would like to congratulate Jonathan Corbett and thank all those who submitted some really lovely photographs and we would like to thank the management and staff of the Virgins and Castle for their support and assistance in making this a successful event.
Jonathan is a keen local photographer and more of his work can be seen at www.jonathancorbettphotography.co.uk He has been a keen photographer since he left school. However, just before the covid pandemic began he was diagnosed with Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH), a rare condition with an unknown cause or causes. The condition is associated with raised fluid pressure around the brain which can damage the optic nerves and cause impaired vision. His condition has been stabilised with surgery and so he has been able to continue to enjoy his passion for photography despite being visually impaired.
Our calendar is currently on sale in 22 locations in Kenilworth as below and we are seeking to make it available to purchase online. Details will be available via our Facebook page.
