Society Chair

As many of you will know, Ojars Bartmanis (“Bart” to most of us) has recently retired from the FOAF committee after 10 years of service, 7 of which were at the helm. Many members of the Society expressed appreciation for Bart’s work in our community, speaking of his “boundless enthusiasm” and “inspiring approach”.

We are deeply grateful to Bart for his significant contributions to the FOAF Committee and its attendant benefits to Abbey Fields, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

Antony Corbett, FOAF Webmaster, will act as Deputy Chair until the next AGM on 25 September 2024, when the members can appoint a new Chair. The workload of existing committee members is finely balanced, and none can readily step into this role permanently.

We must find someone to act as Chair. Are you willing to help? You don’t need any previous experience, just a willingness to give a little of your time to this valuable local cause, and some organizational skills. The Committee is a fantastic team that works together in a friendly and cooperative way. Every member plays a vital role in supporting and promoting Abbey Fields, and their enthusiasm is contagious!

Please give some serious thought to offering your assistance. Contact Antony directly (chair@friendsofabbeyfields.org.uk) if you’d like to learn more about what is involved.
