FOAF volunteers, wearing their familiar Hi-Viz jackets, were out in force at the end of April to sow wildflower and wild grass seeds in two areas that had recently been cut back. The selected seeds included Common Knapweed, Wild Teasel, Tufted Vetch, Slender-Creeping Red Fescue, and a small amount of Hedge Mustard. All of these plants are beneficial for supporting various butterfly species.
In preparation for sowing, our dedicated volunteers prepared the ground by removing bramble roots and other debris, and they raked the areas to give the seeds the best chance of establishing themselves. After all their hard work, they enjoyed a well-deserved coffee at a local café.
Sincere thanks to all involved!
