Boundary Planting

In Winter 2013, the boundary fence opposite the entrance to the swimming pool was developed to provide a green boundary to the play area. The planting will be kept trimmed to the height of the existing fence to allow good views. The area will be planted with hedging and climbing plants next to the fence to soften its appearance, incorporating a mix of plant species to provide a subtle backdrop to the flower-rich border to the front of the hedge. This border will be sown and planted with a mixture of annuals and perennials, which will provide colour and interest; the planting will also provide a valuable food source for wild birds and insects throughout the year. Sowing and planting were carried out in the autumn and early winter of 2013. The Council and Friends of Abbey Fields worked together to carry out these improvements.
