The Rain Garden

The area to the left of the path from the car park and on the pool side of the tennis courts has been developed to create “The Rain Garden”. This area has been selected to catch rain water run-off from the surrounding areas and thus help keep water away from the play area. Preparation works were carried out over the summer of 2013 and planting was done in September, with the Friends of Abbey Fields and Warwick District Council working together, to provide an attractive area for people to enjoy. Plants chosen will provide colour and interest throughout the year and will be beneficial to wildlife and cope with the seasonal wet/dry conditions. You can find a list of the plants used on this page.

Planting was carried out on September 28th 2013, with the last of the volunteers shown below, along with the results of their labour.  This page will (with luck!) be updated in 2014 to show the progress. Photos courtesy of Jon Holmes.
