Historic Oak Falls Victim to Storm Winds

The remains of the 400-year-old oak tree that fell during the storm in early January 2025 will remain in place to support local biodiversity. The tree, located at The Ford, was brought down by high winds and water damage despite regular inspections conducted by Warwick District Council staff members. The stump and cordwood will stay to provide a vital habitat for insects and plant life. The black marks on the stump resulted from a reaction between the oak wood and the steel teeth of the chainsaw used during clearance. Plans are in place to replace the fallen tree in due course.
